About Tallero

Built deliberately small.
Deliberately focused.

We exist for one reason: to recruit, exclusively, within public accounting. No generalist sprawl, no scale-at-all-costs. Just careful, considered matches between CPA firms and the professionals they actually need.

Built by recruiters
who got tired of the model

Most recruitment is broken because most recruiters try to do everything.

Tallero was founded on a simple conviction: that recruiting properly inside public accounting requires recruiters who understand it deeply — its disciplines, its seasons, its culture, and the difference between firms that all sound similar from the outside.

The dominant model in our industry is the opposite of that. High-volume, low-specialism agencies push the same candidates at every opening, treat resumes like inventory, and measure success in placements per month. We built Tallero to do the opposite: stay narrow, go deep, and measure success in placements that last.

The result is a firm that won't ever be the biggest in the room — and doesn't want to be. We work with a manageable number of firms and a curated network of professionals, and we put real effort into every match. That's the entire business model.

"You don't need a recruiter who knows a little about a lot of industries. You need one who knows everything about yours."

— The Tallero Principle

Four principles that
shape every search

These aren't taglines — they're the rules we hold ourselves to on every assignment, on both sides of the desk.

01

Specialism over scale

We will never expand outside public accounting. Going broad would dilute the very thing that makes us useful — deep, sector-specific knowledge of the firms, disciplines, and professionals we work with.

02

Quality over volume

We introduce candidates one at a time as we find them — vetted, with proper commentary on fit. No stacks of resumes. No padded longlists. If we haven't found the right people yet, we keep looking — we don't fill space.

03

Honesty over the sale

We will tell a firm when a role is mispitched. We will tell a candidate when a move isn't right for them. The short-term loss of a placement matters less than the long-term integrity of the relationship.

04

Consent over speed

Candidate resumes do not move without explicit approval. Firm briefs are handled with discretion. We move quickly when invited to — and never faster than the people we work with want us to go.

What working with us
actually feels like

Real conversations

We don't do automated screening calls or generic intake forms. Every engagement starts with a proper discussion about what the role — or the move — actually involves.

Honest timelines

We get to work quickly and surface candidates as soon as we find people who genuinely fit the brief. We don't commit to artificial deadlines or pad pipelines to look busy — we'll set honest expectations on pace during the discovery call.

Discretion by default

Confidential searches are normal practice for us, not an exception. Firm names are withheld from candidates until late in the process when requested, and candidate identities are protected from current employers throughout.

Direct access

You won't be passed around. The recruiter you speak to first is the one who runs your search, introduces the candidates, and stays in touch after placement.

Aftercare that means it

We check in with both firm and candidate at 30 and 90 days. Not as a courtesy box-tick — as a genuine quality control on the work we've done.

Ben Flemming

Founder & Managing Director

Ben founded Tallero after more than a decade in accounting recruitment, frustrated by an industry built around volume rather than fit. The firm reflects how he believed recruitment should always have been done: sector-only, honest, and unhurried.

He personally handles every senior search and most introductions, working with a small network of trusted associates for breadth across geography and discipline. If you contact Tallero, there's a strong chance Ben himself will be the one who replies.
